Our Biodegradables

Making rich, fertile compost is always one of the things our school has done well.  We have a lovely playground with shady trees, attractive bushes and flowerbeds grown in nourishing soil. We have a bin in the main lunch-eating area of the playground and we regularly remind children from other classes to put their food scraps in there instead of the other bins. All garden waste is put back into the garden.

To encourage this idea even more, we placed labelled ice cream buckets in our own classroom, which was a long walk from the compost bin, the canteen and the staffroom.  Now the staff and parents are using these buckets and we make sure we empty the foods craps into the right place every day.
We have won  prizes in the Tidy Towns Competition in the past because of our beautiful school grounds.  Thanks to the efforts of Mrs French, our compost is the best!
Below are some of the plants that have been propagated in our wonderful compost.
