Waste Management Policy

At Orford Primary School we will:

  • make a conscious effort to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and conserve resources in all areas of our school.
  • organise the collection of our recyclables and transport to a suitable transfer station.
  • keep paper wastage to a minimum by using double-sided copying where possible, using the back of old paper and saving useful scraps.
  • compost all food scraps from lunches, the canteen or cooking activities as well as garden waste like fallen leaves and grass clippings.
  • reflect the global care of the earth in our curriculum.
  • consider environmental impact when engaging in fundraising or other school activities.
  • encourage parent and community involvement in environmental issues through ongoing communication.
  • encourage the use of reusable dishes and cutlery in the canteen and try to minimise unnecessary packaging.
